Sweet Treats (and NO Calories)!

As I was reorganizing my craft room I realized there are a few goodies that have slipped through the blogging cracks. This post is dedicated to these precious prizes that have waited patiently for their time in the sun.

Let's begin with some yummy yarn- that's always a great place to start.

My May Yarnbox Socks shipment arrived a couple of weeks ago and it was glorious! I got a hank of Celestial Strings Shuttle Sock in the Orion Nebula colorway.
It's a 75% Superwash Merino and 25% Nylon blend, which will make a fantastic pair of socks. I couldn't get over how soft it was- it almost feels like Angela, the mastermind behind Celestial Strings, snuck some cashmere in there- you have to pet it to believe it. And the color- WOW! It's a beautiful blend of deep purples with some hot and pale pinks mixed in- which is right up my alley. I can't wait to see how this knits up.

I also picked up two hanks of standard sock yarn from Peepaloo Fields in the Unexpected Belly Buster (right) and Peepaloo (left) colorways.
I had been coveting this yarn and stalking Shari's Etsy site for a while now, and when she had a Mother's Day free shipping promotion, it was a sign from the universe that I had to add it to my stash. The colors are so gorgeous- the bright neon pops in each skein are set against rich, saturated backdrops. I'm especially looking forward to seeing the Peepaloo color turned into a fabulous pair of socks. You should totally follow her on Instagram, too- that's where I find out about her sales and promos- and the spectacular yarnporn is always welcome in my feed.

During my continuous birthday shopping spree (which will hopefully die down a bit in June), I managed to nab this Freckled Whimsy Sock Nanny.
I heard Kemper's review of the Sock Nanny on the Junkyarn podcast, and after I checked out the shop I completely fell in love with the cute fabric she uses. Who doesn't love mermaids and narwhals? Instabuy! Plus, you can never have too many project bags- all knitting WIPs need a home. My Sockhead hat is currently living in it, and the pink shades of the Hedgehog Fibres Birthday Cake yarn matches perfectly. It was meant to be. The Sock Nanny is a really fabulous bag- I especially love how it stands up on its own, and once the lip of the bag is folded down, there's nothing for the yarn to get caught on (unlike other bags, where the yarn sometimes gets stuck on the zipper and hiccups or snags a bit as you're knitting). I highly recommend checking out Freckled Whimsy's Etsy shop- Karrie also has some lovely hand dyed yarn in addition to her adorable project bags.

The latest exciting envelope to grace my doorstep- a terrific tin of Little Skein in the Big Wool stitch markers.
There are far too many super sweet stitch markers (and other assorted delights) in Anne's shop to count, so I had to narrow it down to a few- quite the challenge, if I do say so myself. I ended up getting a set with a master Squirrel stitch marker (SQUIRRELS- squeeee!), and two progress markers on lobster clasps- one with a teeny jumping bunny, and one with a unicorn. I love them all! Even the packaging is just so charming. A knitting bunny- LOVE!!! I have a strong feeling this will not be my last purchase from Little Skein- we all know that neither will power nor restraint are great strengths of mine, at least not when it comes to knitting related treats.

I think that's about it for my recent acquisitions. Stay tuned for actual knitting progress- yes, I do actually knit with some of the yarn I hoard.
