Yarn Love! Holiday! Sparkles! Oh, my!

Happy Valentine's Day, my sweets! I hope you are enjoying some quality knitting time with the yarn ones you love- and also chocolate! Mmmmm... Chocolate! I've been lucky enough to squeeze in lots of knitting time this week, so I have a few finished objects to show off, as well as some goodies that arrived in the post. Let's start with the yarn!

My February Post Stitch SockStitch shipment arrived and it was absolutely beautiful! I could not get over how gorgeous this yarn is! It's Yarn Love Yarn Jane Austen in the Post Stitch exclusive colorway Flora Rose. The base is 84% superwash merino and 16% stellina, so this has some serious sparkle- it's jaw-dropping!
The shipment also came with a sock pattern by Heatherly Walker (aka Yarn Yenta), a tapestry needle, cable needles, and the most adorable knitting Valentine's Day cards! While I loved this shipment, I couldn't honestly justify the expense and decided to cancel- but I'm glad I scored this amazing hank of yarn before I did. I cannot wait to see what this yarn will become!

I also received my Yarnbox Socks shipment, and it seems like everyone got the memo that February's theme was SPARKLE! The yarn was Holiday Yarns Silver Sock in the Black Widow colorway. It is 420 yards of 63% superwash merino, 20% silk, 15% nylon, and 2% silver. Heavenly!
It is a reddish-pink, with flecks of burgundy tones, and it twinkles when it catches the light like you would not believe. I just can't bring myself to make this into a pair of socks. While I'm sure those socks would be beyond luxurious (hello, silk!), I tend to toss my socks into the machine more often than I care to admit and I'd be terrified of ruining them. Of course this problem could be easily remedied by hand washing, but I know myself and that is just not going to happen.

Speaking of socks- I managed to complete the Pedi Socks I was working on for Sarah, and shipped them off to Portland earlier this week.
They were a gift for her sister-in-law, and I hope she enjoys wearing them as much as I enjoyed knitting them! The bamboo and nylon blend was really soft and smooth after blocking- this was a good reminds that I should knit with bamboo blends more often, I'm sure I have more in my stash... Somewhere!

I also finished my Carrie shawl in time for Valentine's Day- and I *LOVE* it so much!!! This pattern was perfect TV knitting, and I didn't even have to count- Yessssss!!!
I can see lots and lots of Carries in my future- it's the ideal pattern to show off a highly treasured skein of sock yarn (and if you're anything like me, you have many in your stash). Megan Sanders has done it again- I can't recommend this enough!

Lastly, this week I started another commissioned project- a pair of men's size 13 socks, which I have lovingly dubbed the Bigfoot Socks!
I'm hoping that by using Knit Picks Hawthorne in the sport weight I'll be able to make progress on these faster than I would using a fingering weight yarn, but a foot that's a foot long will take a while to knit no matter what yarn I use! Though, so far these have been coming along and I'm really liking how the yarn is working up. Hopefully these will make their way to their intended recipient soon... Or soonish. Fingers crossed!

That's all for this week, but I thought I'd leave you with this cute cartoon which hit pretty close to home!
Happy Valentine's Day, loves!
